It's not often we do a wedding on a Monday, but day before yesterday we were at The Green in Cornwall doing a ceilidh for Tanya & Liam. The venue is reasonably spacious for a decent barn dance and had it's own PA system which they called an "Array" which seemed to be a panel about 3x3 m located flush with the ceiling. The theory is that a multitude of small speakers direct the sound down to the dance floor area. I didn't like it very much as so much of the band sound depends on the bass end of the accordion, which was sadly lacking. Also as the sound which was quite loud goes direct to the dancers, we as musicians on the edge don't get the full volume, but we certainly got the full volume of the many dancers on the floor as the enjoyed themselves hugely.
